Turmeric - the Wonder Spice!

The Indian Spice Turmeric (Curcuma longa Linn) is a wonder gifted by Nature to mankind!

It not only gives beautiful yellow colour when added to foods, it protects the human body with its active principle namely Curcumin which is a proven, powerful antioxidant. It has very high anti-microbial properties too!

It had been proved  to give protection against several forms of skin and other forms of deadly Cancer. Recent studies have proven cure from Colon Cancer. 

Adding and consuming few pinches of turmeric powder in lukewarm milk is a home remedy for seasonal cough and cold due ti its anti-inflammatory effect. 

A daily intake of up to 20 grams of turmeric powder is non-toxic as per clinical studies. 

Though the Indian culinary practices use Turmeric very liberally the daily intake through food is far less as compared to this dosage.   

The incidence of Cancer is very low in Indian populace as compared to Western population due to regular intake of turmeric in its cuisine.

Turmeric finds a place in all Indian System of Medicine (Sidda, Unani and Ayurvedic). Therapeutic Turmeric (curcumin) Capsules have emerged in the Market for consumption as a Nutraceutical / Food Supplement. 

Several 'Ready-to-Drink' Designer Beverages have been launched in Europe and US using Turmeric as a Key Ingredient. One 'Ready-to-Drink' Turmeric based Beverage Brand has been launched in the Indian Market recently.

Since time immemorial, turmeric powder has been used in Cosmetics and in India the women folk use the vermillion made from turmeric (Kumkum) on their forehead as a religious practice.

Several reputed fairness / beauty creams use concentrates of Turmeric as an active ingredient.

Come what may, Turmeric is there to protect us all Indians through our Culinary and Life Journey!
